What is the procedure for obtaining a Permanent Resident (PR) visa?
You will have to go through an application process in order to obtain a PR visa. The applications are thoroughly examined. A points-based system determines who is eligible for a Canada PR visa. How can one use Express Entry Program for a PR visa?
Candidates who apply for a PR visa through the Express Entry programme will be evaluated using a points-based system. The Express Entry System is divided into three categories:
- Federal skilled workers program (FSWP)
- Federal skilled traders program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
You can apply for a PR visa under the Federal Skilled Workers Program if you are a skilled worker. The Canadian government started this programme in 2015 to attract talented professionals to come and settle in the country. To be eligible for this programme, you must score 67 out of 100 on the following eligibility criteria:
1. Age
Those between the ages of 18 and 35 receive the most points. Those over the age of 35 receive fewer points, while the highest age to qualify is 45.
2. Education
To be eligible for this category, your educational qualifications must meet Canadian criteria for higher secondary education.
3. Job experience
You must have at least one year of full-time work experience to qualify for minimum points. More points are awarded for more years of job experience. Your occupation must be listed in the National Occupational Classification as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B. (NOC).
4. Language ability
Your IELTS test result must be less than two years old and must contain at least six bands. If you are fluent in French, you will receive bonus points.
5. Adaptability
If your spouse or common-law partner agrees to accompany you to Canada, you will receive an additional 10 points for adaptability.
6. Arranged employment
If you have a genuine offer from a Canadian employer, you can earn up to 10 points.
Provincial Nominee Program
Nearly 80 separate Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) exist in Canada, each with its own set of eligibility conditions. The PNP programme enables provinces to meet their specific immigration needs by assisting them in filling in-demand positions and addressing labour shortages in their area.
Applicants for most PNPs must have some sort of ties to the province. They should have worked or studied in that province previously. Alternatively, they must have an employment offer from a provincial business in order to obtain a work visa.
However, some PNPs do not require any prior ties to the province in which you are applying; you can apply directly to that province's PNP programme.
PNP eligibility criteria
To apply for a PR visa, an applicant must get a minimum amount of points. Here are the many criteria for earning points toward meeting the eligibility requirement:

Each province's standards for reviewing a PR application may differ.

The PNP-Non-Express Entry method and the Express Entry method are both available for application.

You must submit a Notice of Interest (NOI) to the province, and if chosen, you will be given an ITA for permanent residence. This procedure could take anywhere from 15 to 19 months.
You must create an online Express Entry Profile for the Express Entry procedure, during which you will be asked to indicate the province or area in which you are interested. Then, depending on the province or territory, you will either have to file for nomination yourself, or you will be chosen and notified by the province.
How long can you stay?
The Canada PR visas are mostly valid for a period of five years. However, the visas can be renewed by applying prior your six months expiry.
